New Service Procedures

Contact the Operations Department

Call 800-884-0881 to initiate the new service process. You will be asked to provide:

  • Property location
  • Your contact information
  • A copy of your warranty deed to facilitate creation of an easement for electrical service (providing the deed right away will help to expedite the new service process)

Note: Best efforts will be made to accommodate your construction schedule; however adequate lead time is necessary to obtain the necessary equipment and paperwork.

Easements are legal documents that grant PEC access to property for the purpose of constructing, operating, and maintaining equipment and lines. Easements also allow for right-of-way maintenance which includes clearing/trimming vegetation. Easements are required from each land owner.

When You Are Ready To Proceed

Once you have spoken to our operations department about your new service, we will provide you:

  • Membership Application
  • New Service Membership Terms
  • PEC Bylaws

Upon completion and return of the Membership Application and New Service Membership Terms, we will:

  • Set up a time for designing and estimating the new service on your property
  • You are welcome to meet our representative at your site to discuss where the service will be run and where you would like the pedestal placed.

*There is a fee for the design and estimate for new services.

After Property Has Been Designed

After the meeting onsite with our representative, we will mail you:

  • An invoice for the pedestal, estimated cable footage, and applicable construction costs.
  • Wiring Compliance Statement (to be signed by your Master Electrician)
  • Electrical Utility Easement (if the Warranty Deed for the property has been received)

Before construction begins, the following must be on file with PEC:

  • Payment for pedestal, cable footage, and construction costs
  • Completed Wiring Compliance Statement
  • Completed Easement (signed and notarized)

Member is responsible for and must have right-of-way cleared prior to construction beginning.

Construction and Beyond

Once all the required documentation is on file, payments are made, and the right-of-way is cleared, PEC will begin construction for your electric service.

Upon completion of construction:

  • You will be refunded or invoiced for the difference between estimated and actual cable used.
  • Monthly billing will begin.

Cooperative Difference

By signing up for electric service with PEC, you also become a member of our cooperative.  Our members share more than electricity. They share the same principles. That’s because our electric co-op is located in the communities we power and we work hard to help everyone live better.
