Pollinator Habitats

PEC has received funding for projects through the Pollinate Program’s Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 awards. These awards are made possible through a generous gift made by #Stantec to support the #PollinateProgram. A collaborative program where the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) offers grant awards to eligible energy and transportation organizations creating and conserving pollinator habitat.

PEC's Pollinator Projects

Timm's Hill

Upon exiting Timm's Hill County Park in Ogema, you will observe PEC's power lines and the adjacent right-of-way. In late 2024, PEC planted native species in the right-of-way to support and maintain pollinator species in the area. This planting was PEC's first planting in a public right-of-way.

Species planted here include: milkweed, lupine, black eyed susan, beebalm, eastern columbine, and more.
